Island Alters

I welcomed in 2024 with a very special trip to visit family in Hong Kong. I have never experienced such a densely populated and changing landscape; I loved exploring the busy streets, tasting new food and hearing people converse in various dialects. Looking up to view the high-rises; I felt truly small compared to them, which was refreshing, and a definite change from the quiet country lanes I’m used to exploring in England.

Island Altars is a small collection of photographs that I made around the city and Lamma Island, a short ferry journey from Hong Kong. I was drawn to the shrines that adorn shop entrances, homes and pathways across the island.
